Job Summary
Performs supervisor responsibilities and recommends related actions for employees. Oversees the Tool Room and Stores including but not limited to, receiving, issuing, and inventorying tools, maintaining tool control database, enforcing check-in/out policy to ensure tool accountability, and building tool kits per requirements.
Essential Functions
Performs supervisor responsibilities and recommends related actions for employees. Oversees the Tool Room and Stores, including but not limited to, receiving, issuing, and inventorying tools, maintaining tool control database, enforcing check-in/out policy to ensure tool accountability, and building tool kits per requirements. Monitors stock levels required to support daily operations, providing kit/parts status, assisting with part number verification, responding to customer requests, assisting with identification of tool requirements, and generating orders for new and replacement tools Provides status reports and timely notifications of any major or recurring problems.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in related field
Two (2) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of related education and experience; One (1) year of supervisory experience required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of tool room operations, inventory systems, and tool control procedures.
Knowledge of procurement processes, stock management, and part number verification.
Knowledge of supervisory practices, performance management, and workflow coordination.
Strong organizational and inventory management skills to maintain accurate tool accountability.
Skill in using and maintaining tool control databases and related software.
Effective communication skills for reporting issues, coordinating with customers, and directing staff.
Problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve recurrent operational issues.
Ability to supervise employees, delegate tasks, and recommend personnel actions.
Ability to monitor stock levels, generate orders, and ensure timely support for daily operations.
Ability to enforce check‑in/check‑out policies and maintain full accountability of tools and equipment.
Ability to work in a physical environment requiring moderate lifting, movement, and operation of common equipment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to ascend and descend ladders and/or stairs. Ability to move, transport, and/or deliver items, supplies, or equipment. Ability to move or traverse across campus, within buildings and offices, and/or across external environments. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
