Job Story
The NIAR ATLAS lab is looking for a student assistant to help with testing and data analysis.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
Assist in setting up and conducting composite mechanical testing and data analysis in accordance with standardized procedures. Capable of independently completing assigned tasks while ensuring clear and consistent communication with the supervisor and research teams.
Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Requirements
Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field in good academic standing with the university. Basic knowledge of mechanical testing principles. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team.
Fundamental knowledge of core engineering principles relevant to the position (e.g., mechanics of materials, thermodynamics, etc.).
Capable of performing duties that involve standing and walking as part of the workday.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience/ Familiarity with CATIA V5, 3DX, MATLAB or similar software/programs
Creative problem-solving ability
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment, including but not limited to phones, printers, copiers, and calculators.
Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
