Job Story
ITS Telecommunications Student Administrative Assistant: Telecommunications is part of WSU’s Information Technology Services. We provide and support telephone and network connectivity for all WSU locations. This is a regular student position. Students of all majors are encouraged to apply.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
The ITS Telecommunications group provides voice and data services to support the University's mission. We support thousands of network and voice connections, cabling and fiber optic infrastructure throughout Wichita State’s main and satellite campuses.
This position is listed as part time. That means 40 hours through the spring, summer and winter breaks and 30 hours (20 hours for international students) during the semesters.
Student workers must be available to start within 2 weeks. We will be interviewing during the application process and may close this listing early if viable candidates are found.
Job Purpose:
The ITS Telecommunications student admin is an entry-level position. The person in this position will perform routine tasks, participate in projects, and gain technical working skills. To apply for this position, you MUST have excellent Microsoft Office skills. You should know how to open and modify a Word document, enter formulas in Excel and navigate through Outlook.
Job responsibilities:
· Answer and route phone calls for the department
· Enter all work orders into the department software system
· Reset caller ID's for University phones; reset voicemail passwords; create long distance PIN codes
· Audit systems weekly and daily to ensure all work orders are entered
· Monthly billing entry
· Errands for the department
· Procedure update and creation
· Monitoring of shared inbox

Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.
Additional Requirements
· Typing, computer skills, office knowledge
· Microsoft Office experience
· Ability to work independently
· Demonstrated ability to learn

Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
