Work Schedule; work is performed on-site and in person.
Varied Monday-Friday, dependent on class schedule. Time will consist of 20 hours per week, split as needed between days. Occasional after hours or Saturday event will be worked into schedule as possible and desired.

Are you a Military-Connected student looking for a flexible part-time position? The WSU at McConnell Campus is looking for a knowledgeable, reliable student assistant who understands the military community to join our team! This position offers flexible hours and a positive, safe environment to engage, create, and grow your skills.
As a student assistant for the WSU McConnell office, located on McConnell Air Force Base (AFB), you will provide day-to-day administrative, operational, and clerical support to the Military Education Specialist. Helping to deliver a professional and welcoming environment for servicemembers, military families, AFB employees, education services staff, students, and WSU faculty. You will have the opportunity to engage with a diverse population through everyday tasks, events, and outreach by helping them find resources and support to successfully navigate higher education and fulfill their academic goals!

Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

Job Duties
Greet students and visitors at the WSU McConnell office, provide professional customer service, and help create a welcoming, inclusive environment.
Provide general support to the Military Education Specialist, including any WSU faculty or staff who may teach or assist with events.
Answer phone calls, respond to email inquiries, and assist with office coverage.
Assist with check-in, scheduling, and general office maintenance.
Support outreach efforts, including flyers, social media, email campaigns, and student engagement activities.
Help monitor and maintain materials, office supplies, and inventory.
Assist with data entry, filing, copying, and other administrative duties.
Run errands, including delivering documents and materials to the main campus as needed.

Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.

Additional Requirements
Must be a Military-Affiliated Student at WSU. Military, Dependent, or Veteran.
Must be a U.S. Citizen, have a Military ID or Real ID, and be able to pass a background check for base access.
Dependable, responsible, and able to work independently.
Maintain trust and protect student privacy and sensitive information.
Interact comfortably with a diverse population.
Professional communication skills: in person, by phone, and through email.
Basic computer skills and common office technology.

Preferred Qualifications
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Organized and detail-oriented.
Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
Experience with event planning, customer service, or office work is preferred but not required.

Additional Information
This position is located on McConnell Air Force Base.

Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
