Job Story
Industrial, Systems, and Manufacturing Engineering (ISME) department is seeking reliable and professional Student Assistants to provide front office support and assist with daily administrative operations. This role serves as a key point of contact for visitors, students, faculty, and staff.

Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

Job Duties
• Answer and direct incoming phone calls in a courteous and professional manner
• Warmly welcome and assist visitors; check-in guests and notify appropriate faculty/staff of arrivals
• Respond to general inquiries and provide basic information about the department/programs
• Sort and distribute incoming mail to faculty and staff
• Monitor and restock office supplies as needed
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming office environment
• Monitor and update bulletin boards, digital displays, and informational materials physically available in the office
• Provide administrative support and assist with special projects as assigned

Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.

Additional Requirements
• Minimum GPA of 2.5
• Availability to work 10-20 hours per week between Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and initiative
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; willingness to learn new systems
• Prior phone or office experience is helpful

Additional Information
Selection will be based on schedule availability and the ability to follow instructions. Review of application begins on August 24 and the position is open until filled

Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
