Pay
From $11 to $12 per hour, dependent on experience.

Work Schedule; work is performed on-site and in person.
Dependent on Class Schedule, during Office hours of Mon-Fri, 8AM-5PM

Export Compliance Requirement
This position requires access to EAR or ITAR controlled technologies. Applicants are required to be eligible for employment under U.S. export control laws and must meet the requirement of being a “U.S. Citizen”.

Job Story
ITS Telecommunications Student Assistant: Telecommunications is part of WSU’s Information Technology Services. We provide and support telephone and network connectivity for all WSU locations. This is a regular student position. Students of all majors are encouraged to apply.

Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

Job Duties
Duties will vary but include the following:
· Data collection/connection audits.
· Connection updates.
· Materials receiving, sorting and inventory.
· Telephone testing.
· Office tasks such as recycling, cleaning, filing, and running errands.
· Assist technicians with work orders

Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.

Additional Requirements
Required skills:
· Familiarity with Microsoft office suite.
· Experience working with a team and independently.

We need a time commitment of at least 20 hours a week during our normal business hours, weekdays 8am to 5pm.

Required Experience
This is specific to each position and department. See additional requirements and preferences.

Preferred Qualifications
This is an entry-level position, however, preference given to applicants that can demonstrate previous experience in the following areas:
· Previous technical work experience (not limited to IT fields).
· Customer service experience.
· Experience reading blue prints.
· Experience with Microsoft Visio.
· Experience using hand tools.

Additional Information
Former students in this position that have demonstrated technical and organizational abilities have developed into student technicians.

Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
