Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Export Compliance Requirement: This position requires access to EAR or ITAR controlled technologies. Applicants are required to be eligible for employment under U.S. export control laws and must meet the requirement of being a "U.S. Person”.

Lead our IT training services for administrative software systems and desktop applications like Banner (ERP), Microsoft Office, Adobe, and other tools that keep our campus running smoothly.

• Lead Training Operations: Manage course development, scheduling, records, facilities, and reporting for administrative training programs.
• Team Leadership: Direct and support training personnel, ensuring alignment with university goals and continuous improvement.
• Develop Learning Solutions: Plan, implement, and deliver instructor-led and online training initiatives for staff and faculty.
• Enhance Client Experience: Build strategies to improve service quality, maintain strong client relationships, and resolve inquiries promptly.
• Strategic Support: Act as a top-tier escalation point and collaborate across ITS to support new and ongoing projects.

Job Summary

Provides support, guidance, professional development and long-term planning, which includes setting priorities for work tasks, performance evaluations, and interaction with functional areas of the University to assess technical needs. Participates in purchasing process for new hardware and software.

Essential Functions

Assigns staff to various projects and directs their activities. Reviews and evaluates work and prepares performance evaluations. Confers with and advises staff on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities, and methods. Plans, develops, implements and conducts the delivery and procurement of instructor-led and online educational and training initiatives. Projects long-range requirements in conjunction with other information systems leaders as well as business function leaders. Prepares activity and progress reports..

Job Duties

  • Manages day-to-day functions of training and administrative training processes including course development and scheduling, records, facilities and reports.
  • Manages training personnel and directs activity; ensures training personnel are a good fit for the role and that time and performance measures are established, reviewed, and acted upon to create an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Conducts needs analysis to provide university-wide training solutions.
  • Act as a top tier point of escalation for the support services teams.
  • Works with other departments within ITS to perform preemptive analysis of new projects and post-communication for current projects.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Nine (9) years of experience in computer applications. Every 30 hours of college coursework can be substituted for one (1) year of experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience listening to customers face to face or using a variety of communication tools to determine and resolve issues and provide assistance in the use of various software applications.
  • An aptitude for providing positive customer service, constructively handle unexpected problems and make decisions face to face in the classroom and over the telephone.
  • Ability to speak clearly and project with the volume necessary for a classroom or computer lab containing at least 20 computers and attendees.
  • Ability to demonstrate and transfer knowledge of a concept effectively.
  • Ability to learn technology quickly through instruction and self-training.
  • Handle rapidly changing priorities, interruptions and return to work quickly.
  • Ability to manage and complete concurrent projects and meet deadlines.
  • Enthusiastic, professional and confident personality.
  • Demonstrated use of patience, understanding and a team player attitude.
  • Successfully work with people of various cultures, languages and technical skill levels.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3 years' experience of proven leadership skills.
  • Experience planning day-to-day and long-term objectives in a training environment.
  • Experience delivering instructional presentations to individuals or groups of 1O or more.
  • Experience creating and maintaining training manuals in a business or educational setting.
  • Experience in working in a team, project-directed environment.
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner, Cornerstone or other Learning Management Software, course authoring software (e.g. Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, etc.), and video and content creation software (e.g. Camtasia, Premier, etc.)

Microsoft Office Power User
Microsoft Cloud Power User
WSU Internal Control All-Star

Physical Requirements:

Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
