Job Story
Industrial, Systems, and Manufacturing Engineering (ISME) department is seeking reliable and professional Work-Study Student Assistants to provide front office support and assist with daily administrative operations. This role serves as a key point of contact for visitors, students, faculty, and staff.

Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

Job Duties
• Answer and direct incoming phone calls in a courteous and professional manner
• Warmly welcome and assist visitors; check-in guests and notify appropriate faculty/staff of arrivals
• Respond to general inquiries and provide basic information about the department/programs
• Sort and distribute incoming mail to faculty and staff
• Monitor and restock office supplies as needed
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming office environment
• Monitor and update bulletin boards, digital displays, and informational materials physically available in the office
• Provide administrative support and assist with special projects as assigned

Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.

Additional Requirements
• Must be eligible for Federal Work-Study
• Minimum GPA of 2.5
• Availability to work 10-20 hours per week between Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and initiative
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; willingness to learn new systems
• Prior phone or office experience is helpful

Additional Information
Selection will be based on work-study eligibility, schedule availability, and the ability to follow instructions. The position is open until filled.

Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
