Job Story
The Information Security Student Assistant will support the organization Information Security program by assisting with the review and maintenance of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and related documentation.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
The Information Security Student Assistant will support the organization Information Security program by assisting with the review and maintenance of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and related documentation. This position will help monitor user progress in the Security Awareness Training program and prepare regular training reports. The student assistant will also participate in on-site departmental and laboratory audits to assess compliance with Information Systems Security requirements and assist with documenting findings and recommendations.
Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Additional Requirements
Currently enrolled as a student in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field.
Basic understanding of information security principles, cybersecurity terminology, and policy-driven security practices.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to review and update documentation accurately.
Good communication and organizational skills, including the ability to prepare simple reports.
Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
Willingness to conduct on-site reviews and follow established security procedures.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators.
Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
