By addressing critical gaps in the health care system, the lab is also offering invaluable hands-on training for students, shaping the future of health care.
Job Summary
Performs a variety of routine diagnostic and/or analytic testing of laboratory specimens for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Interprets, documents and reports test results.
Essential Functions
Performs routine and non-routine tests and analyses using the appropriate technical equipment and instruments Performs quality control testing, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. Verifies analytic accuracy, sensitivity and references ranges for test methods. Oversees instrumentation and provides training to staff; serves as a subject matter expert and resource. Assists with data collection and completes special projects as assigned. Assists in documentation and submission of all required laboratory, department and staff statistics and/or reports. Practices safe work habits, including complying with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations. Other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in a related field of science
Five (5) years of experience in a clinical laboratory or related field
Required License/Certifications/Training
MLS or equivalent required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, in verbal, written, and interpersonal formats, with internal and external customers.
Perform independently and in a team setting.
Ability to think critically, take initiative, and pay attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators.
Ability to use tools, equipment, and technology necessary to do the job. This includes dexterity in instrument manipulation.
Ability to interpret effectively, accurately and impartially, both receptively and expressively.
Ability to inspect and/or surveil materials, equipment, reports, and/or incidents and identify any errors, needs and/or determining factors.
