Job Summary
Performs specialized custodial services, such as maintenance and repair of custodial equipment, floor cleaning and finishing equipment, carpet and upholstery maintenance equipment in University buildings. Acts as a liaison between custodial staff and leadership to ensure service excellence.
Essential Functions
Maintains and performs minor repairs on custodial equipment, such as vacuums, floor and carpet cleaners, etc. Completes basic maintenance on floor care equipment. Performs specialized custodial services such as floor cleaning and finishing, carpet and upholstery maintenance, cleaning building furnishings and/or procedures using specialty cleaning chemicals. Cleans and services assigned areas in University buildings and maintains sufficient stock and supplies for the proper performance of these duties. Provides all floor care services including strip, wax, carpet cleaning and may provide disaster recovery for affected flooring. Utilizes cleaning machinery such as scrubbers, buffers, and carpet extractors for floor care maintenance. Performs regular inspections of all areas to determine need for services and/or quality of services performed. Communicates findings and recommendations to leadership. Provides guidance and coaching to custodial staff as needed. Conducts service recovery efforts in response to questions and/or concerns from faculty, staff, students, and visitors according to the department's customer service protocols. Assists supervisor with payroll, scheduling, education of department staff, budget and other duties as assigned. Shovels and removes snow and ice from designated areas such as roofs, sidewalks and entryways as required.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to position self to clean designated areas, equipment and items. This includes but is not limited to the ability to clean in confined, elevated, and loud noise spaces. Ability to use tools, equipment, and technology necessary to do the job. This includes dexterity in instrument manipulation. Ability to move, transport, and/or deliver items, supplies, or equipment. Ability to inspect work, materials, equipment, and/or supplies and identify any errors, needs, and/or determining factors. Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to drive state vehicle. Ability to remove snow and ice from designated areas. Ability to ascend and descend ladders and/or stairs.
Additional Physical Requirement:
Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force to constantly move objects.
