Job Story
The NIAR Composites & Structures lab is seeking a student assistant to operate surface grinders and CNC machines.

Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

Job Duties
Responsible for setting up and operating machines with minimal supervision.
Read and interpret instructions for machine parts to specified dimensions while meeting tolerances.

Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications
Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 20-30 hours per week.
Able to do simple addition and subtraction.
Attention to detail.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Self-motivated and reliable.
Positive attitude and adaptable.

Additional Information for Posting
Lifting steel and aluminum fixtures regularly that weigh approximately 15 - 20 lbs. Able to stand for 8 hours.

Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment, including but not limited to phones, printers, copiers, and calculators.
Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
