Job Story

The Psychology Department at Wichita State University seeks to hire a tenure-track, Assistant Professor in Community Psychology to begin in the Fall of 2026. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels and establish an active research program including application for external funding. We are open to all areas of research and community interests but are especially interested in scholars who work with various populations or underrepresented groups or otherwise conduct research that promotes community wellness and social justice. We are also particularly interested in applicants who can teach policy, grant-writing, or graduate-level courses in other Community Psychology competency areas. Applicants should be graduates of a Community Psychology or related Ph.D. program and have a strong record of peer-reviewed publications.

The department has three Ph.D. programs in clinical, community, and human factors psychology, as well as a large undergraduate student body. Because the clinical program’s curriculum includes required courses in community psychology, the successful applicant will have a joint appointment as a core faculty member within both programs. Wichita State also has an in-house clinical psychology training clinic that serves the greater Wichita area.
