Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
Provide accurate, timely resolution of customer support incidents and service requests.
Install, configure, and maintain end-user devices, including computers, smartphones, printers, scanners, hardware, software, and related services.
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues, risks, and problems to maximize device reliability and availability.
Maintain accurate inventory records for technical assets, including locations, quantities, and expiration dates.
Document and maintain records for end-user hardware and software configurations.
Establish, recommend, and continuously improve infrastructure processes and procedures to enhance the customer experience.
Remediate hardware and software vulnerabilities on end-user devices in coordination with the Security team.
Participate in security incident response efforts, including remediation of compromised devices as directed by the Security team.
Maintain a software catalog tracking standardized versions, approved software, and deployments by team or department.
Collaborate with the Manager of Infrastructure Solutions on end-user device lifecycle management.
Engage in ongoing training, professional development, and goal setting to enhance technical skills and departmental value.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Additional Requirements
Experience supporting end-user devices in a professional IT or infrastructure environment.
Working knowledge of installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently while maintaining a customer-focused approach.
Experience with asset inventory tracking and technical documentation.
Familiarity with security best practices, vulnerability remediation, and incident response support.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to follow established processes while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Willingness to pursue ongoing training and professional development.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including infrastructure and security.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators.
Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
