Summary of Responsibilities

Tenure track faculty are required to teach, generate a good journal publication record, establish a sustainable externally funded research program, and to participate in service activities. Additionally, the faculty member is expected to advise undergraduate students, mentor and seek external funding for graduate students, develop research expertise, and grow academic and research infrastructure (e.g., labs, equipment, capabilities, etc.).

Minimum Education
  • Must have at least one degree in aerospace engineering or have notable aerospace specific industry/research lab experience.
  • Must hold a doctorate in aerospace engineering or a strongly related engineering discipline.
Minimum Experience
  • A demonstrated ability to teach.
  • A demonstrated ability to conduct research.
  • A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Appropriate background and experience consistent with starting at the Assistant Professor level.
  • Appropriate experience in the area of aerospace structures and solid mechanics.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Candidate should have demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.
  • A demonstrated ability to teach and perform research in the area of aerospace structures and solid mechanics.
  • A demonstrated ability to work with students at all levels.
  • An ability to publish in recognized journals.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to accommodate a variety of learning styles and strategies in instructional delivery and learning activities, including online and blended learning, flexible teaching methods, and applied learning approaches.
  • Appropriate background and experience consistent with starting at the Assistant Professor level.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience working in an aerospace engineering department, teaching, conducting externally funded research, publishing and guiding students.
  • Industry experience would be seen as a plus.
