Summary of Responsibilities

The Industrial, Systems and Manufacturing Engineering Department at Wichita State University is looking for a full-time Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor. This person will teach engineering students lab modules in manufacturing courses and guide students’ work on term projects in these courses. The ideal person will have experience in CNC programming, prototyping or tool and die making, part inspection using CMMs, welding, sheet metal work, and plastics production. Job duties include maintaining the Manufacturing Processes Laboratory, teaching manufacturing engineering lab modules, and supporting the needs of ISME faculty members and students to prototype research setups. This includes conducting lab classes, teaching the safe operation of various machines, supervision and teaching of correct practices to students using the lab for experiments and projects, enforcing lab rules, grading lab work, manufacturing specialized research setups, keeping track of tools and instruments, ordering and installing new machines, tools and supplies, and maintaining laboratory equipment.

Minimum Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum Experience
  • Successful experience in using and maintaining a variety of manufacturing equipment.

  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following: teaching, job shop supervision, prototype development, 5-axis millturn machining, and/or MasterCAM programming.
