Summary of Responsibilities

In the Center for Behavioral Health Initiatives (CBHI), the Project Coordinator assumes a lead role in the design, establishment and implementation of contracts designed to improve the behavioral health system throughout Kansas and other areas as needed. Specific responsibilities include organizing, supporting, and leading meetings with key stakeholders, organizing statewide partner and regional meetings, designing and delivering behavioral health-related resources, and active participation in other activities in order to meet the expectations of local, state, and national funders and the CBHI Director.

Minimum Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in the related field from an accredited university.
Minimum Experience
  • Five years of experience in collaborative efforts with state agencies and consumer advocacy groups, developing and writing contracts/grants, developing policies and tracking project outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success working independently in project leadership roles.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to travel throughout the state with possible overnight stays.
  • Able take the lead in designing and completing project plans.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with external and internal partners in team member and project leadership roles.
  • Background and content expertise in behavioral health practice and science.
  • Able to facilitate large and small groups.
  • Able to work with diverse populations.
  • Able to successfully work at the state level in policy development efforts.

Position Description Information

Preferred Education
  • Master’s Degree from a related field from an accredited university
Preferred Experience
  • Meets the criteria for qualification as a Certified Peer Specialist working in a mental health service setting including having direct experience with receiving mental health services and an understanding of the mental health system for a primary mental health consumer’s perspective, or Licensing as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP).
Regular Hours of Work 8-5 Monday - Friday
Environmental Factors

Normal office, classroom and meeting room environments. Ability to work flexible schedule as needs arise. Statewide travel will be required on a regular basis with possible overnight stays.
