Summary of Responsibilities

This twelve month, entry level full time position reports to the Associate Director of the Counseling & Testing Center. The person in this position is responsible for the delivery of mental health services members of the University. Duties include provision of individual, group, and couples counseling, clinical supervision of trainees, outreach to the campus community, and consultation/liaison.

Minimum Education
  • Doctorate in Counseling, Clinical/Community, or Clinical Psychology OR ABD in Counseling, Clinical/Community, or Clinical Psychology with completion of degree by start date.
Minimum Experience
  • Successful experience working with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of mental health services for a wide range of presenting concerns.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strength as a presenter and provider of outreach programming.
Required Licenses, Certificates & Registrations
  • Licensed or license eligible as a psychologist in the State of Kansas within 1 year of hire. If not licensed as a psychologist at the time of hire, licensed or license eligible as a Master’s level clinician in the State of Kansas at the time of hire.

Position Description Information

Preferred Education
  • Completion of (or current enrollment in) an APA accredited doctoral psychology program.
  • Completion of (or current enrollment in) an APA accredited and/or APPIC approved doctoral psychology internship.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience providing mental health services in a college/university counseling center.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision to practicum students, interns, or postdoctoral fellows.
  • Demonstrated skill and experience working with one or more of the following: multicultural populations, men’s issues, behavioral health issues, traditionally underserved students, the use of technology in mental health work, couples or group counseling.
Regular Hours of Work 40 hours per week within the 8:00 am - 7:00 pm business hours, Monday through Thursdays and 8:00 am - 5:00 pm on Fridays. Specific schedule to be determined in consultation with supervisor. Occasional weekend and evening hours for campus events and cris
