Job Story
Looking for a flexible, on campus job to help develop your professional and customer service skills while working in a friendly and supportive environment? The Barton School of Business Student Success Center in Woolsey Hall is looking for a work study eligible student assistant to join our team to help staff our front desk to welcome guests, schedule student appointments, and assist with outreach to current and prospective students among other tasks.
All majors are invited to apply! Normal office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM but work schedules are flexible around your class schedule. Student workers can expect to be scheduled 10-20 hours per week on average. Must be federal work study eligible.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
Provide coverage for the front desk including welcoming guests, answering phones, transfer calls, take messages, and contacting students to schedule appointments. Assist with projects as required (i.e. prepare materials for distribution, create spreadsheets, event set-up, etc.) Assist the Director of Advising and other staff as requested.
Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.

• Greet visitors
• Help prepare materials for events, campus visitors, workshops, classes, etc..
• Requires excellent spoken & written English skills by phone and in person

Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
