Export Compliance Requirement
This position requires access to EAR or ITAR controlled technologies. Applicants are required to be eligible for employment under U.S. export control laws and must meet the requirement of being a “U.S. Citizen”.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
-Utilize MTS load frames and structural setups to perform static and cyclic testing on composite and non-composite materials
-Work with advanced software (Multi-Purpose Testware (MPT), Profile Editor, AeroPro) to develop constant amplitude and spectrum load profiles for structural evaluation
-Design and fabricate fixtures for testing applications
-Utilize specialized equipment such as Digital Image Correlation (DIC), LUNA, Modal Analysis, and Acoustic Emission
-Conduct data reduction and reporting to analyze test results
Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Additional Requirements
-Undergraduate or graduate students in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
-Ability to work a minimum of 15-20 hours per week
-Minimum of 2 years until graduation
-Design experience
-Fabrication experience
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators.
Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
