Job Story
The NIAR AMP lab at Wichita State University is seeking a highly motivated Student assistant with a background in Industrial Engineering to support the Quality Assurance (QA) Manager. This role will focus on assisting with quality assurance processes, data analysis, and process improvement in our Advanced Manufacturing and Prototyping Lab. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a dynamic research and manufacturing environment.

Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

Job Duties
• Quality Control Support: Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring QA processes to ensure compliance with industry standards (AS9100).
• Data Collection & Analysis: Collect and analyze data from inspections and quality reports to identify trends and recommend improvements.
• Documentation & Reporting: Assist in organizing quality control documents, including NCRs and audit reports, ensuring timely and accurate record-keeping.
• Process Improvement: Work with QA Manager to develop, test, and implement improvements in quality procedures and workflows.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with engineering, production, and QC teams to resolve quality issues and communicate changes in QA procedures.
• Compliance Audits: Support internal and external audit preparations by compiling necessary documents and reviewing QA procedures.
• Other Duties as Assigned: Perform other related duties to support the QA Manager and team.

Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent

Additional Requirements
• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at Wichita State University.
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications
• Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis and statistical methods.
• Experience or coursework related to manufacturing, quality control, or process improvement.
• Familiarity with quality standards like AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar.

Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position.
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment, including but not limited to phones, printers, copiers, and calculators.
Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
