Job Summary

Provides leadership and strategic direction for the planning, development, implementation, operation and administration of policies, strategies and procedures for one (1) or more human resource functional areas.

Essential Functions

Oversees the development and continuous improvement of human resources services, policies, processes, and programs to achieve University strategic initiatives. Provides leadership to team(s) that support one (1) or more human resources functional areas. Establishes, defines, plans, communicates, and implements strategic goals and objectives. Oversees and directs the management of day-to-day operations for one (1) or more human resources functional areas. Provides strategic guidance and consultation to managers and staff regarding best practices, policy interpretation, problem resolution, and compliance with regulations, laws and policies.

Job Duties

Serves on the HR Leadership Team. Leads and supports a team of nine including the manager of HR Operations and Benefits. Responsible for leading Total Rewards and HR Operations which includes Compensation, Leave/ADA Administration, Benefits, Employee Data Management and Compliance.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or related field
  • Six (6) years of experience in human resources or related field, with two (2) years of experience in a leadership role

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Situational leadership style and ability to coach/develop team(s). Customer service focus and consultative style.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge to strategically plan in a range of aspects.
  • Process management and improvement.
  • Ability to make timely decisions and handle deadlines. Ability to navigate conflicts.
  • Knowledge and experience managing market-based compensation programs, HR Systems, ADA Accommodations, Leave, HR service centers, Employee Data and Compliance.
  • Data analytics and data-driven decision making.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading compensation, leave/ADA administration, benefits, employee data management and compliance.
  • Previous supervisory experience.

Preferred License/Certifications/Training:

SHRM-CP/SHRM SCP and/or PHR/SPHR or equivalent

Physical Requirements:

Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
